"I came to find you," Lupin said. "I needed my potion. The full moon is in two days." "I left a gobletful on your desk," Snape said. "I suggest you go and drink it." "That's all right. I've just had some." Lupin waved the half-empty flask in his hand. "It was right here beside the cauldron. A sick feeling came over Snape. "Lupin, you fool," he said. "That flask did not contain your potion." "Oh," Lupin said, holding up the flask and peering at it. "I thought it tasted odd. What was it?" "I confiscated it from a student this afternoon." Snape gave Lupin an icy smile. "It is a love potion." Lupin blanched. "But ... a student ... too difficult, surely. It won't work." He sniffed at the flask. "Will it?" "Ordinarily, I would agree," Snape said. "But the student was Miss Granger." "This is bad." Lupin set down the flask. "What should we do?" "We? I was not the imbecile who drank an unlabeled potion. I believe this is your problem." "You can't just ignore this! We don't even know what type of love potion it is! This could be disastrous." Lupin pulled at the collar of his robes. "Why do you keep it so hot in here?" Oh damn. "Close your eyes," Snape said. "Right now." "Why?" Lupin glared at Snape. "So you can run off and leave me all alone?" "Shut them! Now!" "Very well," Lupin said and closed his eyes. "Are you going to play a game with me, Severus? You can blindfold me if you like." He pulled at his robes again, fumbling with the fastenings at the neck. Oh damn and damn and damn again. Snape went to the door and put three different locking spells on it. Then he warded the fireplace and did a sound-dampening spell. And an anti-opacity spell. And an antacid charm. And turned around to find Lupin right smack behind him, red in the face and rumpled about the clothing. "What about the game, Severus?" Lupin said and flung himself onto Snape. Snape tried to dodge, but he took a hearty smack on the ear before he could disengage himself. He held Lupin's arms to his sides and tried to think what he should do. He had to restrain Lupin somehow until he could test the potion and administer an antidote. "Did you want to tie me up?" Lupin said. "That might be fun." He ran his foot up Snape's calf and Snape shuddered. "Get hold of yourself, man," Snape said. "You're under the influence of a love potion, remember? You just think you're in love with me." "Oh, I'm not in love with you," Lupin said. "I just really want to fuck you." Gooseflesh pricked up on Snape's skin and he shuddered again. "Can you control yourself long enough for me to make you an antidote? Use your brain, Lupin, not your libido." "You mean to say you're not really stunningly handsome and brimming with sex appeal?" Lupin said. "I only want to tear your robes off and ravish you because of the potion?" "Can you just sit down and keep your mouth shut and your hands to yourself for twenty minutes? Otherwise, I'll have to use Petrificus Totalis on you." Snape shook Lupin, more to relieve his annoyance than anything else. "Maybe I should use it anyhow." "No, no," Lupin said. Perspiration was beading on his forehead. "It's the potion, I know. I can sit and wait. Mind over matter, that's all." "You're sure?" "Of course." Lupin smiled weakly. "I'm not a hormone-addled youth, after all. I can control it." Snape let Lupin go and watched him until he was sitting quietly in the corner of the room, legs crossed and hands folded. Fine. Now to test the potion. Snape went to his stores cupboard for some indicator wick and a set of vials. Then he turned to take the flask. And there was Lupin again, rather wilder about the eyes and redder about the face. Snape pulled out his wand -- this had gone quite far enough. "Petri--" he said and then choked as Lupin poured the rest of the potion into his mouth. There really was no expletive strong enough for what Snape was feeling at that moment, even if he had been able to speak. He gagged and spat but Lupin had his hand tight over Snape's mouth and in the end quite a lot of the potion got into Snape. It was extremely nasty: thick and syrupy, tangy and musty, with an aftertaste that reminded Snape of sprouts, his least favourite vegetable. Snape wondered if he had got a full dose or not. He clamped his eyes shut and waited to see if there was any sort of reaction. So far nothing, except ... no, that was just Lupin groping his backside. "Get away from me, you fool," Snape said and tried to shove Lupin. He missed and there was a crash as something -- the vials probably -- fell to the floor. "Don't you want to play with me now?" Lupin said. His fingers twisted into Snape's robes and his breath -- smelling of sprouts -- blew on Snape's face. Snape got his hands onto Lupin's chest and pushed. This time it worked, but at the cost of more shattered glass. What on earth was Snape to do? He had to think of some way to restrain Lupin and confine him, all with his eyes closed. Then he had to see if there was enough of the potion left to test and discover if an antidote could be devised, all without looking at Lupin. Assuming that an antidote even existed, of course. There were some potions that could not be countered. This would be tricky, very tricky. He had to get his wand out and cast the binding spell before Lupin realised what he was doing. And he would have to let Lupin get close to him, so he wouldn't miss. At least *that* wouldn't be a problem -- Lupin was currently standing behind him, sucking on Snape's neck like some goddamned vampire and pawing him again. All right, he would turn, slowly, as though he wanted to hug Lupin, and then, when he was sure Lupin was in front of him, hit him with the body bind. Then he'd drag Lupin into the cupboard -- he could reach that with his eyes closed and there should be room enough -- and shut him in. After that, he had only to find the cure and administer it. It was a good plan. Snape slowly pulled his wand out of his sleeve. Slowly, he turned around, and heard a wet smack as Lupin's mouth detached from his skin. Slowly, he reached out to make sure of where Lupin was. And Lupin tackled him and they fell to the floor. "Lupin, you utter bastard," Snape said. Lupin's eyes were gleaming in a most disturbing way and he ran his tongue over his lips. And then it hit Snape twice as hard as Lupin had: Snape's eyes were open. So much for the plan. Perhaps he hadn't got enough of the potion anyhow. Perhaps he wouldn't experience any lustful feelings. Perhaps he was completely immune to Lupin's melting eyes and luscious mouth and the man-hard weight of his body on Snape's. Or perhaps not. Snape struggled with himself, trying to push those feelings away, to get hold of himself, to make his body obey his brain. But it was impossible to struggle with himself and Lupin too. And he found he no longer wanted to. He put his arms around Lupin and kissed him with such force their teeth cracked together. Lupin licked at Snape's tongue and bit his lips. There was a faint flavour of sprouts, but it was delicious, the best thing Snape had ever tasted. They rolled on the floor, over and over and back to thud against the table in the middle of the room. There was another crash, but it didn't matter. All that mattered was getting out of their robes and into each other: touching, sucking, clawing, writhing, fucking, fucking, fucking. It was nearly midnight when Lupin stared at Snape and pulled back. Snape reached for him, they weren't done yet, they would never be done. "Come here," Snape said and kissed Lupin's belly. Lovely skin, lovely trail of soft hair to follow down and down. "No," Lupin said and wrenched away. "Severus, the potion." "You can take your potion later." Snape looked up at Lupin. What was the matter? "The *love* potion. It's still affecting you. It will only be a few minutes longer, I think." Snape thought he could vaguely recall something about a love potion. But what did that have to do with anything? "I only need a few minutes," he said and smiled at Lupin. A strange look crossed Lupin's face. He stepped back further. "Ow! The floor's all over glass." His foot was bleeding, smudging the floor with red. Snape wanted to take the foot in his hands, lick Lupin's wound, suck his toes. "Let me," he said and took Lupin's ankle. Lupin sighed, but he didn't resist. Snape pulled out the shard of glass and touched his lips to the cut. Copper on his tongue and a heady scent of sweat and Snape realised he had his mouth, his actual personal *mouth* on Lupin's filthy foot. "Good lord," he said. "The love potion." "Sorry," Lupin said. He picked his way across the floor and looked through a tangled heap of clothing. Snape caught a glimpse of scratches and love bites all over his pale skin before they disappeared behind Lupin's robes. He didn't dare look at his own body now, just took the robes Lupin tossed him and put them on. "Sorry doesn't even begin to come close to being adequate." "I don't know what else to say." Lupin didn't look at Snape, which was just fine. It would be just fine if Snape never had to look at Lupin again as long as they both lived. "Just leave," Snape said. "I still need my Wolfsbane." Fine. Just fine. Nearly the last thing Snape wanted to do was help Remus bloody Lupin right now. But the very last thing Snape wanted to do was explain to Dumbledore why he wouldn't. "You'll be lucky if it hasn't spilt," he said, but the cauldron was fine. He poured out a goblet and watched while Lupin drank it. "Now will you leave?" "Severus..." Lupin said. A strange look crossed his face. "What is now?" "I think there was a miscibility effect." "What kind of miscibility effect?" With any luck, a fatal one. "It's..." Lupin looked, if it were possible, even more ashamed. "I think the love potion is re-activating." Wand, wand, where was Snape's wand? Under the pile of clothing? On the table? Before he could find it, Lupin was pressed up against him, kissing him and pushing his hands inside Snape's robes. Snape stood frozen for a moment as Lupin stroked his back and sucked at his mouth. Then his shoulders sagged. Oh well. "At least come back to the bedroom this time," Snape said and pulled Lupin there. * The next day there were sprouts for dinner. Snape left the table. Lupin followed him. Hermione smiled. F I N I S Halrloprillalar prillalar@gmail.com http://prillalar.com/
